This is remarkable for me because I received a message from someone I never met, requesting me to conduct a session based on this little known work written by my father’s father, without them knowing my connection to him.
*The book Risalatul Haq is available in Malaysia via Peace Meal at Mukha Cafe and Wardah Books in Singapore. So is the pdf. I strongly suggest to read the last two chapters which I found very moving as the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) described about a specific phase that comes after death, and also what he had seen in his own dream.
Habib Ali often repeated prior to his death that he wanted to die in Hadhramout. Like many others in Singapore, recently his grave was exhumed and relocated.
Except his remains were brought to Zanbal cemetery, Tareem, Hadhramout walking distance from where he grew up. Out of intense love he used to cry every time he spoke about Imam al-Haddad, who is buried steps away from him now.
Additional note: during the twenty hear Communist Socialist Regime of Yemen, Habib Ali snuck into the country for two nights – a time when scholars and those connected to religion were tortured and murdered publicly. He dug up from under the front door of the house he was raised in Hawi (in front of Imam al-Haddad’s mosque and home), manuscripts and books of Imam al-Haddad and promptly took it to Egypt to get the first printing done. Another person active in this era was Habib Ahmad Mashoor al-Haddad, his seventh cousin.
One publication that comes to mind is if you were to look at one of the biographical works of Imam al-Haddad’s life, the one done by his student Habib Muhammad bin Zain BinSemait entitled The Highest Aim and End (my loose translation of غاية القصد والمراد), you will find at the front page it says The Printing of Sayyid Ali bin Eesa al-Haddad.
Secondly if you’re in Imam al-Haddad’s mosque in Tareem, at the front right mosque section of the prayer hall is a door that indicates it’s a library. The personal collection of books of Habib Ali are all in that room and no one else’s.
