This is a delicacy in #Oman. The Omani Halwa. Omani Sweet.
The #Halwa is like a jelly paste but thicker and it sticks together. You come to the shop and taste a few types, like Baskin & Robbins and tell them which you want. Alternatively, as how most people shop for small stuff, the shopkeepers come to the car and they say what they want.
We can find Omani Halwa in #Yemen and I suppose elsewhere. But here they have the stuff you can’t get elsewhere. I believe I heard a type called Saffron. The one that Faisal al-Mashoor got for me, my host, was one with nuts in them.
Remarkable.
He then bought a bunch, including gift pack sized ones, put it into a box and wrapped it up, for me to bring back home to #Malaysia to enjoy and give others. Such is the sweetness of Omani hospitality.
