Homebound, Habib Kadhim has left the region after almost a month moving about.

He flew out Yemen transit Jordan then transit Jeddah then Kuala Lumpur. After 24 hours to Sydney then Christchurch then Auckland then Brisbane. Two nights each approximately. Then an intense week in Singapore ending with five days in two Malaysian regions. To return it’s a transit in Jeddah and Egypt, then to Yemen.

I was with him for much of this here are a few repeated observations:

1. Any chance he has in spreading the good word by quoting and telling stories of the life of righteous people, he seizes it. Including to a circle of already familiar peers, energetically and animatedly, even during a meal.

2. Every time we get into a car to start a day or begin a journey, he will recite a string of supplications quietly or softly. He also ensures one book is with him when we head out anywhere – ‘A Collection of Litanies and Supplications as read daily by Habib Zein bin Ibrahim BinSemait.’

Only the simple short ones which apply to a regular person’s daily life are the ones he may read aloud for our benefit.

Next he would read a book for an extended period.

3. He calls his mother every day.

*One photo is at the airport from when he gave a point by point run down after I requested for feedback. The one other photo is from last night, where his host in Malaysia called their teacher, the elderly Habib Zein BinSemait (Madinah). The latter was making a prayer on loudspeaker to which Habib Kadhim’s repeated enunciated ‘ameen’ transitioned into one with tears.
