Destination: Port City of Aden, southwest of Yemen
I am here to be part of a wedding. This is a minor taste of what this city looks like in Yemen’s most recent war, but not what it feels. Especially Adeni tea. Amazing.
*Pic: Those holes are bullet marks, insignificant in contrast to the city. On the left is a dentist. Upstairs are my relatives. Some neighbours don’t live upstairs anymore. They’ve either left, or no longer live.
Much can be written about my second visit here in seven years. However I’ll reserve as I’m uncertain what from the many I ought to pick to write about – for your purpose as the reader outside of Yemen.
But I will say this.
Being in an orderly civilized organized environment, is pleasant. Although it has very strong tendencies to distract you from your destination.
An experience in a place like this, whatever position you subscribe to, can’t help you neglect being aware about our final sole destination.
What a blessed place. May you have the same wherever you are.
