Remember the young man I wrote about in the most recent previous post, on Sayyid Abdul Qader Jailani al-Haddar? This is a sort of continuation.

What you see here is the western wall of the seminary, the school. It is facing Mecca.

Within the school is a mosque. And like many mosques the Imam will have a separate entrance which sometimes come from a room within the mosque, other times from outside the mosque itself.

Depending on context the door for the Imam may be locked or guarded. Or both. And if it is winter, the guard stays in the cold outside while waiting for the imam to arrive.

In the case of the House of the Chosen One (Muhammad), or better known as the school called Dar al Mustafa, the resident imam is Habib Omar. He will walk from his home, which is near that orange streetlight you see.

And the honoured resident guard serving is Sayyid Abdul Qader Jailani al Haddar.

That’s him prostrating, performing the cycles of pre dawn prayer alone while waiting for Habib Omar to come.

Many students have performed this duty, competing for this privilege. But I’ve never seen one embracing intimacy with his Lord as I did see in Abdul Qader.

Before sunrise. And after.
