How some cultures say ‘bro’ without saying it. Being a friend while meaning it.
This was exactly two years ago when I was walking together with a sea of strangers in a random funeral in the streets of Tareem.
Where and when I had the honour of not just being reminded of death but of life too.
عَنْ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَحَبَّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ فَلْيُعْلِمْهُ إِيَّاهُ
Al-Miqdam ibn Ma’di reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “When one of you loves his brother, let him know.”
