This is Shahan, the border town of Yemen near Oman. It took almost twelve hours to get here by bus. Petrol is scarce now in Yemen but I’m not sure if this picture has anything to do with that or it is always like this.

Our bus bought some diesel from the friend of the person squatting on the barrel. This sight is not uncommon.

It took about an hour plus to past the Yemeni border. And we well treated by the officers when were at the Omani border for almost 8 hours. Their own bus later sent us to Salalah, which was 3 hours away.

The whole thing was not terribly unpleasant albeit travelling with an infant. It was manageable.
