Khureibeh, Dow’an Valley.
Was fortunate to visit Dow’an again. You must Google to find more amazing shots. This photo is just a teaser taste to how beautiful this place is, from it came from many, many great names.
Knowers.
I’ll name this one simply because it is better known to those on Internet today and he is Habib Ahmad Mashoor al-Haddad. The teacher to both the most influential Muslim in UK – Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad, and the most influential Muslim in the USA – Shaykh Hamza Yusuf.
Other known names are Habib Omar al-Bar and his student Shaykh Abdullah BaSaudan, both responsible for the most known Hadhra of the Ba’Alawi found today in the East and West – Hadhra BaSaudan, or as known in some places like Jeddah Hadhra al-Bar.
Habib Omar al-Jailani al-Hassani, the mufti currently in Makkah, comes from here too. For those who follow this page, the teacher that told my classmates and I about how we ‘missed the point’ regarding exam dates, comes from here too where his al-Mihdhar family hosts a monthly gathering for the wife of the Prophet (pbuh) Our Liege Lady Khadeeja (ra).
Design.
The architectural design of this place is as it ought to be, in that it observes the natural landscape. In this layout, it’s best to build homes on the slope with residue water flowing down into the farms, and the road goes in between those two.
You get an amazing view with breeze, and save immense energy by using natural irrigation which means less work for more yield. Additionally, it’s most wise of them to drink sugarless coffee in clay cups and use primarily donkeys to transport groceries up to their homes.
Many can be derived from this and for you to buy a donkey or stop drinking tea isn’t either of them.
Perhaps one of it.
Just realize that before the western and westernized world went loud about being Eco friendly, awareness and such, these mud house living people (and elsewhere), were very aware of the environment they were living in, as manifested in many aspects we see.
