This Thursday night 11 June, we will be hosting Zain at Mukha in TTDI. See our FB Timeline or www.peacemeal.my/stillinyemen for more the poster.

Before he went to Tareem, Hadhramout (south of Yemen) to study Arabic and Islamic sciences, Zain organized Pillow Fights and other bizarre participatory art projects via the group he co-founded in 2008 – Random Alphabets.

RA also organized KL Freeze in Unison which drew 1,000 people in Pavilion shopping mall. After that they ran Keretapi Sarong for three years, which attracted more than 10 other cities worldwide to join KL as the lead.

The projects were done on the premise of uniting people through fun. From organizing projects without permission from the authorities to being invited to work with them. As a result they started a company from the success of RA.

All this before he co-founded Peace Meal in 2012.

So what made him leave to study in Yemen? Now that he’s back in KL for holidays, what is it that is making him go back to continue in Yemen?

There ought to be something there in this traditional society of Islamic scholarship that perhaps we ought to at least now about. We’ve got Zain to share that with us.
