Annually in the month of Sya’ban, thousands and thousands go to Gebr Hud, the are which the ancient Prophet Hud (a.s.) is buried.
The yearly souq predates Islam. The visitation to his grave, is said, to have originally initiated by Prophet Solomon (a.s.) and today continues by the people of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
It is a three day three night affair for many. For some one, some five, seven. People sleep in, on and next to houses, left vacant most of the year except during this visitation season.
I’ve seen goats at the back of the truck, with people sleeping in the front, top and under it. Camels however find themselves on the sand.
As in this photo, taken early morning, some traders seen sleeping in the open air.
Indeed life is lived in many, many ways. Only our end is two.
