In the video it doesn’t show you much of the whole thing that took place, yes. That’s because from where it was shot. And precisely that, show a lot.
This Ramadhan warm-up. Ignition started.
One of the national icons of modern day Yemen is the Mosque of Shaykh Omar al-Mihdhar, the son of the first al-Saqqaaf that is Shaykh Abdul Rahman al-Saqqaaf. Descendants of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
It has the tallest minaret in the world built from clay. It is on the 500 Yemeni Riyal note.
On most significant events on the Islamic calendar, this mosque will host a Mawlid that begins shortly after the call for prayer at dawn. Shortly after the adhan they will pray (earlier than usual), and begin the Mawlid which takes place for 90 minutes (Mawlid Sharaful Anam).
By the time it ends the sun has risen. And despite being probably the largest albeit not jami’ mosque of Tareem (meaning they don’t conduct Friday prayers there), and despite it being early morning, the crowd overflows.
This particular morning was to celebrate the first of the month of Rajab, two months before Ramadhan begins.
Henceforth, the talk of Ramadhan begins, preparation, including hearing an increased number of poems connected to Ramadhan being recited at religious and social gatherings. Not to mention it being included in the talks by scholars in public deliveries and teachers in classes.
It is said that people of true intellect are those who know that this life is a mere passage and a phase for preparation.
