In Birmingham, our first stop was the Shi’a mosque. We met some community leaders there, had lunch and performed the Friday prayers. Christians and Jews in the group, stayed on to observe the prayers.
As a group, we have broken many walls. Including humour. And some are not shy about making jokes or intra-faith or inter-faith even. Some come out of pure humour, some from a source of frustration and some out of stereotypes.
At the mosque, prayer beads were aplenty. Mori, a Jewish Rabbinical student from Israel had one on him. One of the attendees pointed out to him the place to return the prayer beads.
To which Mori replied something that put us all there in laughter, (Mori, that’s the place you’re suppose to return it). ‘..yea I know. Why you think I’m going to steal it because I’m a Jew yea? Mmm? :)’
